How do I know if individual therapy is right for me?
Individual therapy is beneficial for anyone looking to improve their mental health, understand themselves better, or work through specific challenges. What happens in the first session?
Your first session is an intake appointment where your therapist gets to know you. They'll ask about your history, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve. There's no pressure — it's a conversation, not an interrogation. By the end, you'll have a sense of direction and a preliminary care plan.
How long does therapy typically take?
Duration varies by individual. Many clients see meaningful improvement within 8–16 sessions. Some concerns resolve in 6–10 sessions (e.g. specific phobias), while others benefit from longer-term work (e.g. trauma, personality disorders). We'll regularly review progress with you and never keep you longer than necessary.
Is everything I share completely confidential?
Yes. All sessions are fully confidential under HIPAA law. The only exceptions are legally mandated disclosures: imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child abuse, or a court order. Outside of these rare exceptions, nothing you share will ever leave the therapy room without your written consent.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicare. We also offer a sliding-scale fee structure for those without insurance. Contact our billing team or check your eligibility through our online portal before your first session.
Can I switch therapists if it's not the right fit?
Absolutely. The therapeutic relationship is foundational to good outcomes. If at any point you don't feel the fit is right, simply let us know and we'll match you with another therapist at no additional charge. Your comfort and progress always come first.
